Bias? Really?

Had an idea while I was cutting the lawn today. I’ve had a few conversations about bias in the news, specifically TV news.

Most people lean one way or another, left or right, and they choose which news station to watch/read/listen to based on that.

My idea was, and it mostly applies to TV although radio would be that much sufferer. Anyways, I wonder what would happen if the left news and right news could work together and change their schedule so they don’t run at the same time.

Crazy idea I know but, those so inclined could watch news presented with both bias and make up their own minds!

I think there are far to many people that just need to see what the other side is like and perhaps actually get engaged with the news and think about what is being throw at them. They accept what is said and don’t get that even the news is slanted!

What do you think?

Twitter Intenship (Twintership) all Cons

In my opinion tweeting from an intern’s Cons outweigh the Pro’s. They just don’t know enough about your “brand” (company). They’re not plugged into the stream of info enough to have the goods and to know what they SHOULDN’T be tweeting! My other point is that they will not be building a connection that will be a lasting one.

Tweeting your way into a Twinternship

So what’s a Twintern you say? Essentially, a Twintern is an intern, typically a university or college student, who is hired to be the official Twitter spokesperson and brand ambassador for a given company. A Twintern is in charge of reporting company happenings, as well as joining, actively participating in, and establishing online communities for a company’s brand.
Many businesses, especially ones without a definitive social media strategy or communications plan in place, are hiring twinterns to be their new media be all end alls. Twintern job descriptions encapsulate pretty much everything dealing with the social media sphere, including: influencer outreach, monitoring/metrics and crisis communications all in one.
I finish this post by reaching out and asking you, have you ever had any experience(s) with twinterns or twinternships? If you have, I’d love to get your feedback on your personal experiences—what worked, what didn’t and what you learned!

Medium WAS The Monetization

The folks that have been in the book and music industry THINK they are in the business of selling a physical item. Be it a book, a record, or a CD. The problem they have to get over is that it’s not the medium it’s the content that has some value, it’s just been easier form them to come up with a way to sell the physical good. It’s understandable, due to path of least resistance but, they really have to get it through their system that in the digital age that physical book or disc is a bigger hindrance to their business. It’s so much easier and cost effective if they could only learn to get over it!

Now if they extend that they could use a physical item to provide a value added bonus and make better profit margins from that but most people want the cheap and easy option available!

My Twitters Almost Cleared Up

So I’ve taken a break from Twitter, hell I’ve barely been playing SpyMaster.

After about four or five days I’m not really missing most of it. A couple of times I’ve though about seeing who’s around to grab a coffee or something but aside from that it’s not been a big deal. I would like to have some sort of connection with the folks I really care to connect with. For the most part its the local folks that I’d like that for. I’ve considered a couple of options. One was setting up an IRC chat room of some sort to hang out in. The other was setting up a new Twitter account!

I’m even to the point where I think I’m over most of my thoughts being about 140 characters!

iPhone 3GS

So I have a few questions about the new iPhone 3GS!

1) On Sale June 19th, but is that in Canada too?
2) Will tethering work on wither Rogers or Fido in Canada?

As usual they are more then a bit vague on the details when it comes to most of this stuff and their release outside the US. Should be used to it I guess but…

Oh and another “as usual” they screw us iPod Touch folk by charging $9.95 for the OS 3.0 upgrade!
