Bias? Really?

Had an idea while I was cutting the lawn today. I’ve had a few conversations about bias in the news, specifically TV news.

Most people lean one way or another, left or right, and they choose which news station to watch/read/listen to based on that.

My idea was, and it mostly applies to TV although radio would be that much sufferer. Anyways, I wonder what would happen if the left news and right news could work together and change their schedule so they don’t run at the same time.

Crazy idea I know but, those so inclined could watch news presented with both bias and make up their own minds!

I think there are far to many people that just need to see what the other side is like and perhaps actually get engaged with the news and think about what is being throw at them. They accept what is said and don’t get that even the news is slanted!

What do you think?

Interesting idea, but it's never going to happen.

    The Main Reason: Ratings
The 6:00 news is staple now... it's just there, and CNN isn't going to say "Sorry, but we are going to have this show on instead for an hour, please turn to Fox to get their view of the matter then flip back to us at 7 for ours"

Fortunately, internet sites like Google News aggregate stories from several news sources and people can find out alternate views this way and judge for themselves.

Check out this documentary... interesting stuff: http://freedocumentaries.org/film.php?id=43
